Sundarbans under red alert to stop poaching, trafficking of wildlife

A red alert has been issued across Sundarbans to stop poaching and trafficking of wildlife, including the Royal Bengal Tiger and deer, from the enlisted UNESCO world heritage site.

Confirming that matter to Dhaka Tribune on Monday, Khulna Zone Forest Conservator Moinuddin Khan said the entire Sundarban region has been brought under the red alert to prevent any such illegal activities.

Earlier on Thursday, the Forest Department issued a red alert for the east zone of the mangrove forest following arrests of poachers with tiger and deer skins, and venison.
