Bangladesh Forest Department recovered a body of a dead tiger from the Sundarbans on Friday night.
It has been buried in the forest adjacent to the range office today (20 March), after a team led by Morelganj Upazila Animal Resources Department Officer GM Abdul Quddus conducted the autopsy of the dead tiger.
GM Abdul Quddus said, “Presumably the tiger died of old-age as there were no signs of injury on its body.”
He claimed that the tiger died at least five days back.
“Although many parts of the carcass decayed, we were able to collect some important samples, which will be sent to the forensic lab in Dhaka, to determine the actual cause of death,” he added.
The carcass of the dead tiger was found by the forest guards from Dhunchebaria Char on Bhola River near the Sharankhola range of the forest.
