‘A danger to wildlife’ – warning after sky lantern landed on Dudley Zoo tiger den

Bosses at Dudley Zoo and Castle have warned against the use of helium balloons and sky lanterns after they were found in animal enclosures.

Zookeepers found a used sky lantern had landed on the roof of where the Sumatran tigers are kept.

While no animals were harmed, it raised concerns about the potential fire risk and ‘danger to wildlife’.

A children’s helium balloon was also recovered from the otter enclosure.
