A Kolkata-based wildlife enthusiast Ratindranath Das, 43, along with his wife Geetanjali is out on a mission to motivate people to work for tiger conservation as this big cat is the pointer to how sound the ecology is in a forest area.
“People normally fight for their constitutional rights but ignore the equally essential part — their duties, I want people to realize that this integral part is needed for wildlife conservation,” said Das. It is their duty to protect and improve natural environment, including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife, and to have compassion for living creatures, Das added.
Das accompanied by his wife embarked on their expedition from Kolkata on March 15. Before entering UP, they campaigned in 11 tiger reserves spread across West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Bihar.
